The Kirk Players are excited to announce our upcoming show, The Enchanted Bookshop, by Todd Wallinger, directed by Jeff Harding and Nat Brautigam. “A Likely Story” may look like any other used bookstore, but inside this quaint little shop, magic happens: Every night, the characters inside the books come alive. Robin Hood, Dorothy and Toto, Tom Sawyer, Sherlock Holmes, Heidi, and many other characters live and breathe among the dusty books. They long to help Margie – the scatterbrained owner – save her struggling store, but if anyone sees them, they’ll be banished back into the books! So, what can they do when smugglers break in looking for a stolen necklace? Should they warn Margie and risk disappearing forever? Or can they defeat the crooks without being seen? Featuring a cast of legendary characters such as Frankenstein, Queen of Hearts, and Doctor Dolittle, The Enchanted Bookshop is an endearing comedy that takes beloved characters out of their literary boxes to celebrate the joy of reading. Performances are one weekend only. Join us Friday April 5th at 7pm, Saturday April 6th at 2pm and 7pm, and Sunday April 7th at 2pm in the Mundelein High School Auditorium.
